Plantation Burial Ground

 This is one of the slave grave sites on Sweet Briar campus. We had talked about this particular one in class (the one by the small pond). I had never seen or visited it before so I decided that I would go look at it. It's very interesting because if you look at a distance it just looks like a normal field. It would be really cool if we could find some more sites! Where are some other sites?

I tried to look up the history of the bell tower and haven't had much luck. I walk past the tower everyday, and hear it chime every hour. Has it always been there? When was it built? And who built it? I would like to learn more about its history.

Thayer Field

 THAYER FIELD

The field hockey field, Thayer Field, was given on September 26, 2009. The field was given by Mildred Newman Thayer '61 and Bradley R. Thayer. The  SBC field hockey team of 1919, "played the first intercollegiate contest for women in the state of Virginia" (vixenathletics.com).
